Tour Dates / Description and Availability
The county of Derbyshire is an area with a wide diversity of scenery and habitat making Derbyshire and the Peak District an ideal place to go Bird Watching at any time of the year. The abundance of habitats accounts for the richness and variety of Bird species and wildlife to be found on our holidays. We visit picturesque locations such as the Upper Derwent Valley and Lathkill Dale. (see Tour Itinerary for details)
Spring Tour:
The Peak District supports important populations of breeding birds including Red Grouse, Lapwing, Golden Plover, Curlew and Ring Ouzel. Our bird count will be high with the returning summer migrants arriving before the last of the winter migrants depart.
Summer Tour:
Most of the birds seen on the Spring tour will still be seen with the summer migrants now in residence. We will also search out some target species such as Hobby and breeding Waders and Warblers
Autumn Tour:
Autumn migration means that just about anything can turn up and we will be out on the big reservoirs of the area looking for migrant birds such as Osprey, and returning winter birds such as the Redwings and Fieldfares
Winter Tour:
Brambling and crossbill can be found in winter, we will also be Raptor watching looking for Goshawk, Buzzard, Hen Harrier, Sparrowhawk and Raven, We may go slightly further a field in search of Yorkshire Red Kites
